I learned to fly fish when I was about five or six years old.  My dad taught me how to cast a fly rod in our side yard using a half-length fly rod and a 20-30 foot length of fat crafting yarn that my mother had left-over from some Halloween project.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I remember him standing behind me, with his hand over mind, casting the rod back and forth, back and forth.  It was so simple and so satisfying, even for a little girl.
